Italian Roots

La piadaHANDMADE WITH LOVE

Our flatbread is one of the most popular recipes of Italian cuisine, exported all over the world as a light and quick alternative to a sandwich and pizza. It consists of a thin layer of wheat flour, filled with traditional and creative ingredients, with premium halal meat, vegetables freshly picked from the field, tasty cheeses and even chocolate – endless possibilities, from the healthiest to the most mouth-watering.

Piadèra, our nameTHE ERA OF FLATBREAD IS HERE

It all started on the red and white striped hut beaches of the Romagna Riviera of Italy, while beautiful Norina was vigorously crafting the piada flatbread dough by hand.

Struck by her sight, a foreigner called her “piadera”, the femmine and dialect name for a piada maker.
Since that day we have dedicated ourselves to the artisanal craft of piada, faithful to its authentic Italian tradition.

Take a bite and let yourself drift away to the beaches of Romagna, where it all began…

Who's Norina?THERE WAS ONCE AND THERE STILL IS

“In the 1960s Norina was a beautiful, young woman who vigorously rolled pastry in a historic kiosk in Cervia on Romagna Riviera (coast). Many still remember the long queues of people waiting for her legendary piadina.
Norina is now a happy grandma and the ritual of making piadina appears once again intact and renovated by Piadèra’s desire to offer people the same tradition, the same pure and simple pleasure there was at the time: enjoying a piadina made to perfection. Even away from Romagna Riviera.

RomagnaRIVIERA

The Romagna Riviera, Emilia Romagna’s coast, is full of ancient historical and cultural traditions, still renowned for its cuisine, its distinctive dialect, the beauty of its towns and the lively nightlife along its coastline where everyone smiles. Favoured by its unique climate, the Romagna Riviera is home to some of the most popular products in the world for centuries: Parmigiano Reggiano and Modena’s balsamic vinegar. And what about lasagne? A very tasty dish that, like piadina, stems from the ancient tradition of homemade pasta. Emilia Romagna is also renowned for its passionate manufacturers of the fastest cars in the world.

The recipeANCIENT AND YET TIMELESS

Piadina existed since the dawn of time: the Etruscans already made it and in Roman times it was a staple food both for aristocrats and the lower classes. The first written record of its traditional recipe dates back to 1371.

Nowadays piadina is available in a number of different recipes, modernised with a contemporary twist, though the base is the same: a fragrant sheet of pastry filled with fresh and genuine ingredients.

Piadèra offers you the most delicious, authentic recipes of piadina in the Romagna area made with fresh ingredients, typical of the best Italian cuisine: buffalo mozzarella, burrata cheese, charcuterie, fresh vegetables, extra virgin olive oil. Each ingredient is selected and guaranteed by Piadèra to offer you a tasty, nutritious and light recipe. In our restaurant or in the office.
